A boil appears in the hair follicle during the development of a purulent-necrotic process. Negative damage affects nearby healthy tissues and sebaceous glands, causing redness and soreness.

A boil, so called a furuncle in the people, can have any localization site. Such abscesses appear on the back, abdomen, face, cheek, ear, nose and eye.

Often, boils are formed in the groin, on the neck or armpit.

Inflammation of the skin, in which several boils are noted in different parts of the body, is diagnosed as a complex furunculosis disease. The development of this situation contributes to infection with Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus. The formation of a furuncle is preceded by infection of the hair follicle.

Ulcers develop in places of skin trauma, permanent diaper rash, abrasions. Risk factors include combing the hairy parts of the body with scabies and eczema.

The main cause of a negative state is a decrease in immunity. In such patients, any hyperreactivity of the sebaceous and sweat glands provokes the formation of boils. Furunculosis can cause a number of pathologies:

  • disruptions in metabolism (diabetes, obesity);
  • blood poisoning;
  • hypovitaminosis;
  • chronic fatigue and stressful situations;
  • cancer processes of the skin and internal organs.

Symptomatic picture of the boil is determined by the following features:

  • the formation of a small tubercle in the hair follicle with a clear reddening of the skin;
  • increased swelling and redness of the surrounding skin;
  • pain when touched or moved;
  • formation in the center of the lesion of the rod, followed by the release of pus.

The above symptoms include general weakness and body aches, fever, headaches. Such conditions do not bother all patients, but in a situation where the purulent contents of the boil do not go out for a long time, and the infection spreads throughout the body.
