Is it possible to achieve heights in motor racing and at the same time never sit in the cockpit of a real racing car? Kazunori Yamauchi believes that nothing is impossible for a person, and for more than 20 years he has been helping everyone try on the glory of Alain Prost or Lewis Hamilton.
Of course, you will not be drenched with champagne from head to toe and not be photographed with a helmet under your arm, without a single living space on a suit that would have no advertising sponsors.
But, try on yourself in the smallest detail, as it is – to count milliseconds before entering the turn, just to feel the stopping distance and learn to listen to the gearbox – thanks to the cult GT series everyone can.
Of course, getting a PS4 with a fourth dual wheel or a normal steering wheel, whose permanent exclusive is a video game.
General information about the game:
- Genre – autosimulator
- Setting – Modern / Race
- Developer – Polyphony Digital
- Publisher / Localizer – Sony Computer Entertainment
- Release Date – 2019
Since the release of the first part of this series, we have had the opportunity to drive in 6 full-fledged generations and 5 diverse additions to them, of course, in online adaptation.
And Polyphony Digital continues to work tirelessly to erase the boundaries between real and virtual motor racing, preparing the next generation of its simulator, which by all accounts should see the light in 2019.
Enthusiasts from this company are really in love with the romance of races and everything connected with them, they feel subtly how to convey the real mechanics of the car and the realism of driving it, and in this they truly have no equal.
The team of Kazunori Yamauchi infects with this quivering love for the speeds everyone who has ever tried their creations, thus promoting the popularization of racing culture and video games as such.
In GT, there should be much more cars with careful consideration of every detail (previously, this was observed only for premium classes). Now they can be considered in the smallest details of design, ranging from headlights and other body elements, and ending with the interior design.
In addition, the developers promised solemnly that all the grumbling of the public regarding the apparent contrast between the idealness of the tracks / cars and the environment will be taken into account, and we will still be able to see a picture worthy of the level of the project.
As for the effects of driving like sand flying from under the wheels, smoke or splashes, no one had any complaints, because the spectacle was truly impressive, so you really want to try it out in the virtual reality mode after all.
As always, the video component of the introductory videos, splash screens for the races and other stages of the gameplay will be on top.
The improved format of the interface with the photo editor of the landscapes of the tracks and the decoration of the cars themselves (up to the application of any airbrushing, the loading of designs from a gigantic photo database, etc.) will most likely be left unchanged. Indeed, in the last game of the series, he and so was radically reworked, taking into account all the disadvantages of previous versions.
By the way, the fact that now the project has turned into a kind of encyclopedia of motor sport and production, in the opinion of many, is not in the least, because people interested in this culture and aspect of modern life will find this information very interesting and useful.
Most likely, they will leave the classical school of driving with mastering all the nuances in a friendly and very sensitive environment with advanced AI bots. However, it’s time to add single-user modes to the list of features, by analogy with Forza Motorsport 7, for example, for the time being.
Although, closer to the release, maybe we will find out more details in this respect, because, as is customary, the Japanese do not like too much to throw out all the cards on the table at once. As for the online competition, it is possible that their format will expand, showing something new to fans. The number of runs and their passage modes may increase.
They promise that it is in this series that the collision physics, which has always been a weak point of the project, will be finally reworked in a revolutionary way. Now damage modeling will become much more detailed and realistic, and in many respects this will be possible due to the fact that the detailing of the machines as a whole will grow head and shoulders.
If earlier support for VR devices looked like a sheer utopia with respect to the GT series, now Syuhei Yoshida is ready to use all Sony’s rich experience in implementing this technology for their games, so that their new bestseller can even give fans more realism in the world of high speeds.
Which, of course, is logical, because against the background of an already unsurpassed class and graphics detailing, if we add this property to it … It’s hard to even imagine what level of wow effect you can expect from this.
And if we take into account the traditionally high-level sound support, which included not only the frighteningly identical voice of each model of the car to its real prototype, but also the widest range of soundtracks in every conceivable and unimaginable musical style … It’s likely to break away from the new game of 2019 very, very difficult …
By the way, the fact that the seventh part will be symbolic (it is worth remembering how much importance 7 is attached to Japanese culture!), And that great hopes are placed on it by the creators, is also evidenced by the fact that it will be treated like a jubilee one. In conjunction with its premiere, the final review film Gran Turismo, produced by such celebrities as Dana Brunetti and Michael de Luca.
In the seventh part, according to the creators, they will finally be able to realize all that did not work either in the sixth generation of the game or in the latest addition to it, released in late autumn of 2017, Gran Turismo Sport.
After the audience’s very warm perception by the latter, the author himself admits that he now has his hands free in the deepening and development of the idea of an increasing departure from casualizing races, thanks to which a growing number of fans of this type of games can find themselves in the real hardcore races.
On the one hand, it seems that even greater likelihood and beauty cannot be achieved. But, no: the simplified and more friendly PS4 architecture, as well as the studio’s work in recent years, demonstrate that the game, recognized as one of the best simulators in virtual motor sports, is ready to continue moving beyond the capabilities of video products and delight its fans with new original ideas.
